Xypex Case Studies
-
Location: Takapuna, Auckland
-
Project Dates: September 2008 – November 2008
Project Description
Xypex Admix C-1000NF was added to the in-situ cast sections of the Rosedale Wastewater Treatment Plant Outfall Tunnel, bordering the sink shaft taking treated water to the Hauraki Gulf.
The shaft was bored vertically then a shunt area created and the Outfall Tunnel sections containing Xypex Admix were constructed, followed by lowering a TBM machine and subsequent boring and laying of precast sections of a smaller diameter on the seabed of the Hauraki Gulf and placement of the diffusers.
A significant volume of Xypex Admix was included in the in-situ cast concrete to self heal any fine cracks that might occur and help protect the reinforcing steel in these areas.
A small volume of Kuniseal was employed for some construction joints in select areas.
