Victoria Park Tunnel

  • Location: Auckland Central
  • Project Dates: November 2010 - September 2011

Project Description

Xypex Admix C-1000NF was added to the 200mm thick, 30MPa, steel fibre reinforced, shotcrete wall liner - in front of the secant piles for the East and West walls of the Victoria Park Tunnel.
Kuniseal C-31DS Waterstop was also utilised for most of the shotcrete panels and floor/wall joints for the slab. Site personnel applied 9,260m of Kuniseal to the construction joints and 4,334 kg Xypex Admix was also added to the shotcrete walls.

Once the structure was completed, new cracks were still occurring as late as October 2011, especially in the West shotcrete wall that sits at the base of College Hill where groundwater and seawater combine at high tide. Xypex products were employed to address many of these cracks with Xypex Concentrate, Xypex M PnP Mortar and Xypex Patch’n Plug used with various crack repair methods to stop the water flow. Many of these crack repairs were undertaken by Demden Xypex-trained applicators.

Xypex Patch n Plug and M PnP Mortar were also used to plug leaks between secant piles prior to shotcrete spraying.
